# Play Music in Xtreme Weather Voice Channels via Snowball

> Snowball joins voice channels and plays music from Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, or uploaded files. Queue songs, control playback, and set volume.

Snowball can join a voice channel and play music on demand. You can search for a song by name, paste a link from Spotify, Apple Music, or SoundCloud, or upload an audio file directly. Songs queue up automatically so you can line up tracks without interrupting what's playing.

  Music playback is not available in coverage voice channels. Use `/radio play` in those channels instead.

## Supported sources

Snowball supports the following audio sources:

* **Spotify** — individual tracks and albums (paste a link or search by name)
* **Apple Music** — individual tracks and albums (paste a link)
* **SoundCloud** — any public SoundCloud URL
* **Direct audio file links** — URLs ending in `.mp3`, `.m4a`, `.wav`, `.ogg`, `.flac`, `.aac`, `.opus`, or `.wma`
* **Uploaded audio files** — attach an audio file directly to your message when using `/music play`

The following are **not** supported:

* YouTube links
* Spotify playlists
* Apple Music playlists
* Pre-release albums or tracks

## How to start playing music

    Join any voice channel in the server (excluding coverage voice channels). Snowball follows you into the channel when you use a play command.

  <Step title="Search for a song or paste a link">
    Run `/music play song:` and start typing a song name. Snowball shows Spotify autocomplete suggestions as you type. Select one, or paste a full Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, or direct audio URL instead.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Or upload an audio file">
    Run `/music play file:` and attach an audio file (mp3, flac, wav, m4a, ogg, etc.) directly to the command.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Control playback">
    Use the commands below to skip, pause, adjust volume, view the queue, and more.

<Tip>
  When typing a song name in `/music play song:`, Snowball queries Spotify in real time and shows up to 20 autocomplete suggestions. Select a suggestion directly to avoid any search ambiguity.

## Music commands

| `/music nowplaying`               | Show the currently playing track and queue status                                |
| `/music queue`                    | View all songs in the queue                                                      |
| `/music skip`                     | Skip the current song and play the next one                                      |
| `/music pause`                    | Pause playback                                                                   |
| `/music resume`                   | Resume paused playback                                                           |
| `/music stop`                     | Stop playback and disconnect Snowball from the voice channel                     |
| `/music volume level:<1–100>`     | Set the playback volume (default is 50)                                          |
| `/music shuffle`                  | Shuffle the songs currently in the queue                                         |
| `/music repeat`                   | Add the current song to play next in the queue                                   |
| `/music timestamp time:<m:ss>`    | Jump to a specific timestamp in the current song (e.g. `1:30` or `90`)           |

## Playing albums

When you paste a Spotify or Apple Music **album** link, Snowball queues all tracks from the album in order. The first track starts playing immediately and the rest follow automatically.
