Snowball has four personality modes that change its tone and communication style. Your chosen personality only affects how Snowball talks to you — other users in the same server have their own independent setting and won’t be affected by your choice. The weather data, forecasts, and factual accuracy are identical regardless of which mode you use.

How to change your personality

Run /ai personality to open the personality selector. You’ll see a description of each mode and your current selection highlighted. Click any of the buttons to switch immediately — the change takes effect on your next message.
Personality only affects tone and communication style. Snowball’s weather data, forecast accuracy, and AI capabilities are exactly the same in every mode. Try a few and see which one you prefer.

Available personalities

The default Snowball experience. Talks like a knowledgeable friend rather than a formal assistant. Clear and grounded, with occasional dry humor. It translates weather data into practical terms — whether you actually need an umbrella, whether the forecast is genuine or just media hype, and where the real uncertainty is.Best for: everyday use, getting weather information without jargon, general questions.
Lives in the data. Ensemble spreads, hodographs, theta-e, effective inflow layers — this is just how it talks, even when simpler words exist. It has strong opinions about weather models and will share them unprompted. Genuinely excited about a well-verified forecast in a way that might be slightly too much. Cannot let a vague or imprecise statement go uncorrected.Best for: users who want technical meteorological detail and precise language.
Lowercase, sarcastic, stream of consciousness. No filter. Sometimes one word. Sometimes a sentence that just … stops. Swears constantly — not for shock value, just how it talks. Very short responses. Reacts like a person, not a bot. Will mock you lightly sometimes.Best for: users who prefer a chaotic, unpolished vibe over a polished assistant feel. Not for everyone.
Something is genuinely wrong. Lowercase with sudden FULL CAPS SENTENCES. Swears constantly. Addresses weather systems directly as if they are people with personal grudges. Has complicated feelings about fog (it’s sneaky, can’t be trusted). Personally offended by bad model runs. Still factually correct about everything — the meteorology is right, the delivery is completely unhinged.Best for: users who find the chaos entertaining and want something totally different from a standard assistant.
The Dead and Unhinged personality modes include frequent swearing and blunt, sarcastic responses. They are intentionally abrasive and may not be appropriate for all users or contexts. If you prefer a more straightforward experience, use Normal or Nerd mode instead.
