Snowball wraps the National Weather Service forecast API into three focused commands: current observed conditions, an hour-by-hour look at the next 12 hours, and a full 7-day extended forecast. For big-picture outlooks and AI-generated summaries, /weather outlook and /weather briefing round out the toolkit.
All NWS-based commands — /weather current, /weather hourly, and /weather forecast — are limited to US locations. The National Weather Service does not provide data for international areas.

/weather current

The current conditions command shows the latest observed weather from the nearest NWS reporting station to your location. Snowball displays everything the station is reporting, along with a link to the full forecast on xtremewx.com.

What you see

  • Temperature — current temperature in °F, with wind chill shown when conditions warrant it
  • Conditions — a plain-language description of what the station is observing (for example, Mostly Cloudy or Light Rain)
  • Wind — speed and direction, with gust information when gusts are reported
  • Humidity — relative humidity as a percentage
  • Dew point — dew point temperature in °F
  • Visibility — visibility in miles
  • Pressure — sea-level pressure in inches of mercury
  • Active alerts — if NWS alerts are in effect for the area, Snowball highlights them and links you to /weather alerts for full details
  • Observation time — a relative timestamp showing when the reading was taken

How to use it

Type the command

Enter /weather current in any channel.
2

Enter a location

/weather outlook

View convective outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), excessive rainfall outlooks from the Weather Prediction Center (WPC), and long-range temperature and precipitation outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC). Choose from Day 1 through Day 8 severe weather outlooks, fire weather outlooks, and extended pattern forecasts. An SPC severe weather timing chart by city is also available.

/weather briefing

Get an AI-generated weather briefing for any US location. Snowball gathers current conditions, alerts, forecast data, and NWS forecast discussions, then produces a concise narrative briefing in either conversational or structured style. When precipitation is happening or imminent, the briefing includes a current radar image for analysis. Briefings include a disclaimer that AI-generated content can make mistakes.
